Does Wichtelrunde cost anything?
No. Creating a group, inviting people and drawing names is free. We're funded by affiliate links on the gift ideas – at no extra cost to you.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Neither you as the organiser nor the participants need an account, a password or an email address. Everyone gets a personal secret link.
How do I invite others?
After creating the group you get a group link. Share it via WhatsApp, Signal, email or text – everyone adds themselves. You can also add names yourself and pass on their personal link.
Until when can people join?
When creating the group you set a sign-up period. After that, names are drawn automatically – or you start the draw yourself. As the admin you can extend the period at any time.
Can I add someone after the draw?
Before the draw, any time. Afterwards you need to redraw so that everything adds up again – everyone then sees their new result in their secret link.
Can I keep couples or siblings apart?
Yes. Under “Exclusions” you decide who must not draw each other, for example couples who exchange gifts anyway. When joining, everyone can also say whom they'd rather not draw.
Which Secret Santa rules are there?
When creating the group you pick a variant: classic, kitsch, white elephant, homemade, experiences & time or your own theme. You can add your own notes too, e.g. “no food please”.
How does the budget work?
You set a spending limit that everyone in the group can see. You'll find matching ideas in our gift ideas – filterable by budget, recipient and rule.
Who can see who is giving to whom?
Each person only sees their own result via their secret link. Pairings are never shown as a list – not even to the admin. Note: since the admin can re-share lost secret links, they could technically open someone else's link. Play fair!
What if someone loses their link?
As the admin you can copy and re-send anyone's secret link at any time. Keep your own admin link safe – without it you can't get back into the admin view.
What happens to our data?
We only store what you enter: names, wishes and the group settings. No email addresses, no tracking cookies. The group is deleted automatically 30 days after the gift exchange.
